I am a pre-kindergarten teacher at E.L. Haynes PCS in Washington, DC. Previously, I taught at Takoma Children’s School in DC and Creative Scholars Preschool in Chicago. In my 10+ years of teaching, I have learned that young children are remarkably capable. I strive to find new ways to understand and enable the surprising faculties of young minds.
Teaching young children means instilling a broad set of skills in my students, which I divide into four main areas: social skills, literacy, mathematics, and early science. My approach to each is somewhat unique. The goal of this website is to disseminate my more successful efforts as I refine my strategies. Certainty is hard to come by in the never ending search for best practice, but I hope you will find my insights helpful as we collectively move toward a better understanding of how best to educate.
I am also an early adopter of educational technology. As a resource for teachers and parents, I post categorized summaries and reviews of educational apps.
